By Staff | Nov 25, 2009

“Many hands make light work.” (English Proverb)

KAANAPALI — Whalers Realty’s owners, Robert J. “Bob” Cartwright and Teresa “Tess” Cartwright, lead their company by example with regular involvement in the community and by cultivating close client relationships.

On any given day, you will find a member of Whalers Realty participating in our community clubs, volunteering at our schools, and supporting our fine arts and theater — all in a true spirit of altruism and aloha.

Bob and Tess Cartwright are members at the Lahaina Yacht Club-VIC Maui, and they support many of our school programs and organizations like Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Maui, Maui Coastal Land Trust’s “Buy Back the Beach,” Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation and the Lahainaluna High School PTSA, to name a few. They have also sponsored orchestra musicians for theatrical plays like “The Sound of Music,” which was performed at the Historic Iao Theater.

Tara-Lynn Kahaialii, administrative manager to Bob Cartwright, actively participates in many Lahaina Restoration Foundation events. This month, on Friday evenings, you will see her portraying one of the Baldwin Family’s friends at the Baldwin Home Museum’s Candlelit Tours and Palm Frond Weaving event. Tara is also a regular volunteer in the Lahaina Cleanup Days.

Derek Escalera, R(B), GRI, is a member of the Toastmasters of Kapalua, where he is the vice president of public relations. Derek has achieved the first level in public speaking skills, Competent Communicator, and is working toward the next skill level, The Bronze. Derek is responsible for promoting the club through a variety of media, and he recently was successful in obtaining a contract with KPOA radio.

Nancy Montoya, R (B), ABR, is a member of the Rotary Club of Lahaina and holds the position of club secretary. Nancy and the Rotarians have made a community commitment to clean Honoapiilani Highway in Kaanapali on a quarterly basis. The Rotary Club of Lahaina recently cosponsored the Lahainaluna Interact Club,  which has 75 student members who will become potential recipients of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Scholarship Program for college tuition.

Ann Williams, R(S), volunteers at Sacred Hearts School, where her daughter is a second grade student. As the Parent Teacher Guild (PTG) secretary, Ann actively participates in school publicity, advertising and writing projects, while coordinating various other activities such as Parent’s Night, School Bazaars and live auctions. Ann is also the second grade Room Mother, where she assists the teacher with extra activities, such as helping students with reading, goodies store manager, chaperoning field trips and planning holiday parties.

Ann said, “It’s a fun job and a great way to meet the other parents in the community.”
