Maui entertainer Ikaika Blackburn returns to Lahaina for free Hawaiian Music Series concert

By Staff | Apr 27, 2017

Singing from the heart and soul, Ikaika Blackburn is a sought-after entertainer. He performs regularly at island events.

LAHAINA – Popular Maui entertainer Ikaika Blackburn will perform at Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s free monthly Hawaiian Music Series concert on Thursday, April 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in front of the Baldwin Home Museum at the corner of Dickenson and Front streets in Lahaina.

Blackburn returns to Lahaina for an evening of traditional and cha-lang-a-lang Hawaiian tunes. He is a recognized ukulele player and founding member of the Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning trio Na Hoa. The group’s beautiful melodies and harmonies evoke the nostalgic golden era of Hawaii.

In 2015, the trio garnered a Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Extended Play Album of the Year for “Cha-Lang-A-Lang Christmas.”

Blackburn released a solo album in 2013, “Maliu,” that showcased his leo ki’eki’e (falsetto) vocals in traditional Hawaiian songs.

Limited seating is provided; blankets, mats and low beach chairs are welcome.

This ongoing Hawaiian Music Series program is sponsored by the Hawaii Tourism Authority, County of Maui Office of Economic Development and The Outlets of Maui with support from KPOA-FM.
