Volunteer opportunities available at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions
KAPALUA - With the winners-only Hyundai Tournament of Champions just a few months away, tournament officials remind fans that there are still opportunities to get a unique, behind-the-scenes experience as a volunteer for the event when it returns to The Plantation Course in Kapalua on Jan. 2-6, 2014.
The nearly 500 men and women who volunteer their time at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions each year are an integral part of the event's success, both during tournament week and in its ongoing support of local charities.
The volunteers support every element of the tournament, from tracking statistics, greeting guests and shuttling fans to keeping the grounds beautiful throughout the week.
Without their hard work, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions would not be possible.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to be close to some of the game's top players while working as an integral part of a world-class tournament.
Volunteers working five shifts or more receive two uniform shirts and caps, two weekly tickets, lunch and one free round of golf at The Bay Course (restrictions apply).
Volunteers working less than five shifts (three-shift minimum) receive one uniform shirt and cap, two weekly tickets and lunch.
"Because of the stature and importance of this PGA Tour event to this community and the charities that are touched by the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, it is imperative that we assemble the most effective and experienced volunteer staff possible," said Executive Director Nancy Cross.
"This is a great opportunity to meet new people, network, make great friends and play a vital role in the success of one of the most elite tournaments on the PGA Tour."
Those interested in volunteering should contact Tiffany DeLeon at tdeleon@TroonGolf.com or (808) 662-7702.
All four competitive rounds will be broadcast on the Golf Channel. Follow the tournament on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HyundaiTOC and on Twitter @HyundaiTOC1 to get updates and a behind-the-scenes look at the tournament preparations.
