WAILUKU - A Maui series of free health screening events is coming to Lahaina this weekend.
Events are slated for April 5 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Hale O Wainee Homeless Resource Center parking lot at 15 Ipu Aumakua Lane in Lahaina; April 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. fronting the Salvation Army Lahaina at 131 Shaw St.; April 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hana Health Fair at Hana Community Center; April 14 from 8 a.m. to noon in the St. Theresa Church parking lot at 25 W. Lipoa St. in Kihei; April 19 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Harbor Lights Condominium parking lot at 111 Kahului Beach Road; April 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Haiku Ho'olaule'a & Flower Festival at Haiku Community Center; April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Mokuhau Road parking lot by Living Way Church at 399 N. Market St. in Happy Valley, Wailuku and April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Kidney Foundation's "Da Kidney Da Kine Day" at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in Kahului.
The health services may include retinal/ vision, blood pressure and glucose assessments; lung capacity tests by the Hawaii Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Coalition; memory testing and counseling by the Caregiver Foundation; help in starting MedQUEST applications; optional counseling for smoking cessation and/or safe tattooing; Lions Club testing of hearing; and one-on-one education, counseling and/or materials courtesy of the Hepatitis Support Network, National Kidney Foundation, The Queen's Medical Center Women's Center, Community Alliance for Mental Health, Sage PLUS, Senior Medicare Patrol, and HI Life Flight emergency airlift service.
