Mayor elect seeks applicants for new county administration
Mayor Elect Richard Bissen ran a strong campaign based on “Kama’aina Prosperity,” “Collective Kuleana” in our Maui County community and citizens engaged and involved in local government. Now it’s time to implement that vision.
“It is time to put together a really solid team. Our campaign was a reflection of how we would operate in the government, which is to organize, prioritize and to find the best people we can,” said Bissen, shortly after defeating incumbent Mayor Michael Victorino in the General Election.
Last week, the Bissen Transition team put out a call for individuals who wish to serve their community as directors and deputy directors in the county Planning, Parks and Recreation, Housing and Human Concerns, Finance, Environmental Management, Agriculture, Water Supply, Public Works, Budget and Transportation departments.
Some of these positions require a degree and/or five years of experience in an administrative capacity; see the Maui County Charter for more specific qualifications for each department. Resumes and a brief description of what department you are applying for may be sent to aloha@bissenmovement.com. The resumes and interviews will be examined by the Executive Review Committee.
The committee will accept resumes until which time the Mayor Elect finds a suitable candidate. For more information, e-mail Charlene Schulenburg at schulenburgchar@gmail.com.
