UH seeks feedback on its Strategic Plan
The University of Hawaii is asking for feedback from UH community members — students, faculty, staff and alumni — and the general public on the first draft of the UH Strategic Plan 2023-2029.
The plan will guide Hawaii’s public higher education, ten-campus system for the next six years and replace the UH Strategic Directions 2015-2021 document. The draft is available for review and comment on the UH Strategic Plan 2023-2029 website (https://www.hawaii.edu/offices/vp-academic-strategy/uh-strategic-plan-2023-2029/) until Sunday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to recommend specific actions that can be taken to achieve the objectives of the plan.
Titled “Hawaii’s University for Today and Tomorrow,” the draft plan identifies four imperatives:
1) Successful Students for a Better Future;
2) Meet Hawaii Workforce Needs of Today and Tomorrow;
3) Embrace Kuleana to Native Hawaiians and Hawaii;
4) Diversify Hawaii’s Economy through UH Innovation and Research.
Each imperative in the draft also lists objectives and possible metrics to measure attainment. Specific action items will also be identified during this phase of the plan.
Participate and help move our public higher education system forward.
“More than a thousand people from within the UH community and the public-at-large have participated in this process so far, which is outstanding,” said UH Vice President for Academic Strategy Debora Halbert.
“We hope that more people will participate in this critical next phase as we finalize our plan to best serve the state and our students through the end of the decade.”
