With a goal of raising $25,000, a GoFundMe campaign was launched for Edward Toshio Morita's family.
Family, friends and the ohana at Na Hoaloha `Ekolu in Lahaina are mourning the loss of .
Described as “a husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, chef, photographer, writer, innovator and nerd,” Morita passed away suddenly on Sept. 21.
“Ed worked as the Executive Pastry Chef at Na Hoaloha `Ekolu and was outstanding in the culinary industry, active in the social media community, a regular in the performing arts scene and a supporter of political and social causes. Most of all, he was a family man. He gave his whole heart to everything he believed in, to the benefit of everyone he touched,” noted Jenny Perillo of GoFundMe.

“We’re asking you for help and support of his family during this time, as Ed was taken from us so suddenly and too soon,” the GoFundMe page explains.
He is survived by his wife, Tasha; parents, Gilbert and Betty Jean Morita; sister Naomi (Morita) Maze and John Maze; and niece Nichelle Biggs.
