Donations sought to help people in need
The Salvation Army of Maui County, working in conjunction with Maui Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, is collecting donations to be distributed to partner agencies for COVID-19 response to communities across Maui County.
Information on how to donate is available online at Maui.SalvationArmy.org or by calling (808) 877-6750.
Donations that are needed include non-perishable food, fresh food, produce, hygiene products, cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment, such as masks and gloves.
“The needs in our community continue to grow, and we are asking for everyone’s help to assist the people of our islands,” Mayor Michael Victorino said.
“Mahalo to all our volunteer organizations who continue to serve during these difficult times.”
The website also notes, “If you have a need, we’re here to help. We’re providing food, emergency assistance and other available services.”
The Lahaina Lighthouse Corps. at 131 Shaw St. has helped generations of West Siders.
Meals-to-go are offered Mondays through Fridays: breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m., lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. and dinner from 7 to 9 p.m.
Food boxes are distributed Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; call 661-5335 for an appointment.
And homeless outreach is offered Mondays through Fridays from 5 to 6 p.m. Showers, laundry and phone calls are also offered Monday through Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. by appointment at the Lahaina Corps.
