Remember the hungry this holiday season

By Staff | Dec 5, 2019

Maui Food Bank recently sent out an important reminder: Don’t forget your hungry neighbors in the holiday rush.

This vital charity helps to provide hunger relief to the needy by collecting and distributing food to organizations and agencies throughout Maui County.

Maui Food Bank is incredibly resourceful. Every $10 you donate helps provide 40 meals to people of all ages.

“Meals to feed hungry little tummies, meals to provide energy and strength, meals to sustain our neighbors for another day,” explained Maui Food Bank Richard Yust in a holiday season letter.

“Simply having enough food to eat shouldn’t be anyone’s idea of the perfect gift, but for many of our neighbors, it is.”

West Maui residents and visitors can drop off food at 5A Rent A Space at 3600 Lower Honoapiilani Road in Honokowai, First Hawaiian Bank’s Kahana Branch and the Lahaina and Napili Fire Stations.

Maui Food Bank also encourages residents to hold food drives at their job, school, church, community service club or neighborhood. Visit mauifoodbank.org for details.

Yust hopes the Maui County community will help people facing hunger.

“Your donation accomplishes so much… Please help today! Give the perfect gift… food. I can think of no other place in Maui County where your holiday dollars will go further and provide a more needed gift,” he concluded.
