Help the homeless this holiday season

By Staff | Nov 21, 2019

Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions Club Branch is once again gearing up to help the less fortunate.

Lahaina Lions plan to go out to the homeless not living in shelters and distribute “Fall Blessings Bags.”

The community is encouraged to donate any small items, such as soap, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes and toothpaste, bandages, and any items associated with hygiene practices, preventative measures to reduce the incidence and spreading of disease, and personal healthcare (no razors, please).

All donations can be dropped off in the collection bins at Napa Auto Parts in Lahaina or at Maui Motorcycle Company/Maui Harley-Davidson in Kahului beginning Wednesday, Nov. 20, through Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019.

“The club is hoping to pass out approximately 300 blessings bags in Lahaina and 300 blessing bags in Kahului. We are asking that area businesses reading this… offer to contribute to this wonderful cause and help people during our fall season,” wrote Lahaina Lion Dennis Elms.

Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions Club Branch also seeks new community-minded members. The club currently meets via virtual meetings on the third Thursday of each month beginning at 6 p.m.

For information on meetings, or to donate items for the Fall Blessings Bags, contact Lisa Puaa at (808) 264-1151 or lisa@dabarefootwarrior.com.
