Donate to AILH’s ‘Teddy Bear Drive’
Aloha Independent Living Hawaii’s Maui staff is once again gathering as many stuffed animals as they can.
Their “Teddy Bear Drive” runs until Friday, Aug. 30.
Last year, the nonprofit agency that provides independent living programs and services for persons with disabilities partnered with Lahaina Police to provide all of its officers with a box in each car, so that when they arrive at a difficult call, they are equipped with a stuffed animal to give to children to help them through a tough time.
This year, the group will give the donations to the Children’s Justice Center, which helps victims of abuse and neglect.
“All children with disabilities who are abused and neglected will receive a simple gift of a stuffed animal. We hope this will bring a smile and offer comfort to help ease their pain,” AILH noted.
The drop-off locations are Territorial Savings Bank branches in Lahaina (170 Papalaua St., Unit 3) Kahului (Queen Ka’ahumanu Center) and Kihei (1279 S. Kihei Road, #311), and Beyond Beauty Salon & Spa at 845 Wainee St., #100, in Lahaina.
AILH will be accepting stuffed animals (new or gently used). Pick-ups can be arranged – call Lani at (808) 866-3783 or Kathleen at (808) 866-4690.
