Glen Pascual is the Lahaina News’ Sportsperson of the Year

By Staff | Feb 14, 2019

Glen Pascual, the Lahaina News/TS Restaurants’ Sportsperson of the Year for 2018, attends Lahainaluna High School games and takes thousands of pictures throughout the school year.

For decades now, Lahainaluna High School graduate and current principal with the law firm Tateishi and Pascual, Glen Pascual has photographed Luna student-athletes in action throughout the school year. Those precious moments on the gridiron, the hardcourt or the wrestling mat are then available to the kids and families at no charge.

Pascual thus preserves and promotes some of the most memorable moments in the young lives of hundreds of Lahainaluna athletes. For this generous gift and support to the Lahaina community, he is honored as the Lahaina News/TS Restaurants’ Sportsperson of the Year for 2018.

Pascual is the married and youngest son of immigrant parents from the Philippines. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lahainaluna High School in 1989, then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree with distinction from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1993, and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Washington. He was admitted to the Hawaii State Bar Association in 1998 and resides in Wailuku.

Lahainaluna Athletic Director Scott Soldwisch, who is a former recipient of this award, recommended Pascual for this year’s recognition.

“He (Pascual) attends and supports more athletic events than anyone – no question about it. He shares his photos free of charge for all the kids. He takes tens of thousands per year, and they are used at awards banquets, the HHSAA banquet, for the yearbook, slide shows and other publications. In my mind, he is one of Lahainaluna’s biggest supporters.”

And in the hearts of all of the student-athletes and their families as well. Thank you, Glen Pascual, and congratulations!
