By Staff | Feb 7, 2019

How much do you know about Lahaina’s incredible history?

There is a great wealth of information on our beloved town, from ancient Hawaiian life and philosophies through to Western contact, then the Whaling and Plantation eras.

If you want to learn more, check out Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s new educational tour program at the Lahaina Heritage Museum in the Old Lahaina Courthouse.

Free guided tours of the museum will now be offered Tuesdays through Thursdays, starting on the hour at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon, running for about 45 minutes each.

KE KAI, exploring the ocean, voyaging and ancient Hawaiian society, starts at 10 a.m.

Covering master crafts, essential plants and daily Hawaiian life, HANA NO?EAU is the 11 a.m. tour.

And UA MAU KE EA + CONTACT TO TODAY at noon will discuss the Hawaiian Nation, Western arrival and Whaling & Plantation Eras.

Each tour will provide a broad overview of Lahaina history – perfect for visitors or those new to our islands. Although the tours are geared toward visitors, residents and kama?aina are encouraged to participate.

Attendees are asked to meet outside on the makai (ocean-side) steps of the courthouse facing Lahaina Harbor.

For more information, contact Lahaina Restoration Foundation at 661-3262 or info@lahainarestoration.org.

This is an excellent new activity in town. Coupled with walking tours, Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s new program will help tell Lahaina’s fascinating story.
