Donate teddy bears for children experiencing tough times
Aloha Independent Living Hawaii’s Maui staff recently kicked off a Teddy Bear Drive to collect any and all types of new and gently used stuffed animals and dolls.
The nonprofit agency that provides independent living programs and services for persons with disabilities is partnering with Lahaina Police to provide all of its officers with a box in each car, so that when they arrive at a difficult call, they are equipped with a stuffed animal to give to children to help them through a tough time.
Drop-off locations in Lahaina include Hair Salon Unlimited at 1068 Limahana Place, Territorial Saving Bank’s Lahaina Branch in Old Lahaina Center and Crazy Shirts at The Wharf Cinema Center. Ohana Health Center in Kahului is also accepting donated bears.
To schedule pick-ups, call Lani at (808) 866-3783 or Kathleen at (808) 866-4690.
The Maui staff is also holding a Teddy Bear Zumba Jam Session with the 808 Crew on Saturday, July 28, at the Binhi At Ani Filipino Community Center at 780 Onehee Avenue, Kahului, from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring a stuffed animal and jam for a good cause.
