Help Rotarians in their global effort to eradicate polio
West Maui’s Rotary Clubs are part of an international community that unites leaders to step up to take on the world’s toughest challenges, both locally and globally.
Eradicating polio is one of Rotary’s longest standing and most significant efforts.
Along with partners, Rotarians have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries.
Rotarians have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide, and they won’t stop until they end the devastating disease for good.
“RIDE SO THEY CAN WALK,” a fundraiser to help remove polio from the world, will be held on Sunday, May 6, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Enjoy the Ride Spin Studio located at 118 Kupuohi St., Lahaina, at the Emerald Plaza.
Coordinated by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise, a $20 donation is requested from each rider at the door.
All riders that have donations of $100 or more will receive a free spin class. Riders with donations of $200 or more will receive a free pass for one week of spin classes. There will also be many door prizes.
Ask your friends and family to make donations. Find a sponsor or be a sponsor in this important event.
Registration begins at 2 p.m. or register early; contact Marti Wukelic at MartiRotary@yahoo.com for information.
Due to global efforts, just 37 polio cases were confirmed worldwide in 2016 – a drop of more than 99.9 percent since the 1980s, when the world saw about 1,000 cases per day.
Help Rotarians in Lahaina and around the world get rid of polio for good.
