Help keep our beaches clean
One of Lahaina’s best community events returns on Saturday, Sept. 24, and it will require an army of volunteers.
The 12th annual Lahaina Town Cleanup is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will amass at Kamehameha Iki Park and Mala Ramp before combing the coastline from Puamana to Mala Wharf.
Community leader Matt Lane recently put out the call for help in an e-mail: “This is Ashley, Matt, and Kristin with the 12th annual Lahaina Town Cleanup. We have a big job cleaning up this year! There are some exciting groups in our community that will be collaborating to have one of our most successful town cleanups yet, but we cannot do it without your help.”
“The Lahaina Rotary Club, The Lahaina Yacht Club, Miles Lopes (Harbor Master), Maui Parks, Malama Maui Nui, Surfrider, many of the Lahaina surf schools, boating companies, Pacific’O, Volcom and several other local businesses are already helping with this licensed and insured event. Any participation for any amount of time is greatly welcomed and appreciated.”
The day will begin at 8 a.m. with coffee and breakfast snacks provided by Pacific’O, as data cards are distributed to participants. Bring your own water bottle and gloves to the event.
The cleanup will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch for all volunteers made by Pacific’O and water provided by Tropic Water.
