Contribute to Lahaina’s main summertime event
With July approaching fast, LahainaTown Action Committee seeks donations for West Maui’s biggest summertime event.
LAC Executive Director Lynn Donovan wrote, “We are asking for your help again this year to keep the Fourth of July fireworks alive. It is a major economic event for West Maui businesses right now, and Lahaina businesses can definitely benefit from the increased traffic.
“Lahaina is the place to be for Maui’s biggest official aerial fireworks display. It is an event residents and visitors have come to expect and enjoy.”
The fireworks alone cost more than $40,000. There are other significant expenses tied to closing Front Street to motorists and preparing for crowds of around 20,000 people on Independence Day.
The event is right up there with Halloween for the boost it provides to businesses, so every merchant in Lahaina Town and the boats that sell cruises should contribute to the show.

“Last year, with the generosity of the community and business leaders such as yourself, the event was a HUGE success with an estimated 20,000 participants. We are reaching out again for 2016 and looking for your support,” she explained.
“All donations are welcome. We hope to build an even better event this year.”
