Help the needy this holiday season
Lahaina’s own Spanky’s Riptide is reaching out to the community to help the needy this holiday season.
General Manager Samantha Dixon said, “This time of the year is a perfect time to work in the community to help others less fortunate.”
The 505 Front Street restaurant is partnering with Maui County’s Street Bikers United to help collect toys this season for the Dec. 13 Toy Run and Parade to support Toys for Tots.
In addition, the south Front Street sports bar is partnering with Maui Food Bank to host a holiday food drive.
According to Dixon, “We will collect the toys from now to Dec. 13, but will continue taking food items for the remainder of the year. I am hoping the community holds on to the true meaning of the holidays and we have an overflow of gifts and food so our community can thrive.”
Bring an unwrapped gift for needy keiki, and remember to help the thousands of hungry people in Maui County that need holiday food.
Maui Food Bank requests donations of canned meat, tuna, fruits, vegetables and meals, soups with protein and cereal and rice.
Spanky’s will give away a “gratitude ticket” to anyone who brings both an unwrapped keiki gift and food donation. After Christmas, one gratitude ticket holder will receive a Spanky’s gift certificate.
Dixon hopes “parents bring their kids and show them the giving spirit this holiday season.” For more information, call her at 667-2337.
Help provide joy and life-sustaining food for the less fortunate in Maui County this holiday season and throughout the year.
