Help Feed My Sheep receive a $25,000 grant
Feed My Sheep, a mobile food distribution program, drives trucks into neighborhoods where poverty exists to feed the hungry.
The organization passes out bags of groceries to anyone who needs help in two West Maui locations on Thursdays.
Feed My Sheep also provides emotional support, offering a listening ear and prayer, so that those they assist can receive help without judgment and experience love in their time of need.
Watch them at work, and you’ll realize that this important charity is a Godsend to many needy residents.
Late last week, Feed My Sheep founder Joyce Kawakami announced a great funding opportunity for her volunteer organization.
Feed My Sheep has been named a finalist in a State Farm national competition called Neighborhood Assist.
She wrote, “Please go to this site, www.statefarm.com/ neighborhoodassist, and vote for Feed My Sheep. Out of 3,000, only 200 organizations have been chosen to be a part of this competition. Feed My Sheep is one of the 200!
“Out of the 200 organizations, 40 who receive the most votes will be granted $25,000 from State Farm. We are the only organization from the State of Hawaii that is being considered.
“Will you send this to everyone you know on your e-mail, Facebook and any other social networks that you may be a part of? Hawaii has always been very good about voting for Hawaii. With your help, we have a very good chance at this. So, please, go to the site, which is on Facebook, and vote ten times a day. Each vote will be counted.”
Voting will run until April 21.
Support Feed My Sheep in this contest and throughout the year.
With your help, some 200 needy families on the West Side will continue to receive food each week.
