Hula Grill to hold fund-raiser for critically injured employee

In November 2011, Hula Grill Kaanapali bartenders rallied to support a good friend’s mother: 70-year-old Mary Davy of Hilo, the victim of a violent attack and burglary in her home.
This Saturday, May 5, Hula Grill employees will put their efforts into another worthy cause by hosting a car wash fundraiser to benefit one of their own coworkers, Cristina Gigiolio.
Earlier this year, Cristina was critically injured in a head-on collision.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cristina and her family,” said Hula Grill Manager Orrin Cross.
“Despite the tragic situation, it’s great to see all of our employees coming together to show their love and support for Cristina.”
After the accident on Maui, Cristina was flown to hospitals on Oahu and in Seattle.
Currently at home in Chicago with her family, Cristina has endured more than ten surgeries so far. She still has a long road to recovery ahead.
All proceeds from the car wash – slated for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the First Hawaiian Bank parking lot in Lahaina along Papalaua Street – will be donated to help the family with Cristina’s medical bills.
In addition to the car wash, Hula Grill will offer baked goods and fresh lemonade for sale and host a raffle for prizes.
