Foundation seeks nominations for ‘Legends of Lahainaluna’
Who are the legends of Lahainaluna High School, past and present?
An educator like longtime Principal Henry “Bruno” Ariyoshi?
Or maybe a cultural icon like Keali’i Reichel (LHS Class of 1980), an ultra-talented kumu hula and Hawaiian musician.
Start thinking along these lines, because the Lahainaluna High School Foundation plans to honor three individuals who have significantly contributed to the success of the school, or LHS graduates who have gone on to become contributors to their community.
Nominations are open to the general public until Sept. 15. Send your picks to the foundation at P.O. Box 11617, Lahaina, HI 96761 or via e-mail to lhsfemail@yahoo.com.
Submissions must include a brief description of why the individual is being nominated and the nominator’s contact information.
Winners will be chosen by the foundation’s Development Committee, announced Oct. 1 and honored at the inaugural “Legends of Lahainaluna” event on Nov. 17.
This special event, to be held at the historic Pioneer Inn from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will include heavy pupus, beverages, live and silent auctions and entertainment. ESPN’s Neil Everett will serve as emcee.
Ticket information will be announced by Sept. 16. For more information, contact the foundation at 661-5332 or e-mail lhsfemail@yahoo.com.
