Lahainaluna boarders to mark historic milestone

The Lahainaluna High School Boarding Department will celebrate a historic milestone this year.
Past and present boarders will mark the 175th anniversary of the program.
To honor this achievement, the Lahainaluna Boarders Association is planning an All-Boarders Reunion on April 15-17, 2011.
According to the association, former boarders from around Hawaii, the Mainland and even a former boarder from Southeast Asia will return to Lahainaluna High School for the reunion, which is slated during the school’s cherished David Malo Day celebration on Saturday, April 16.
Boarders can return to their roots, connect with old friends and reminisce about their high school years during campus tours, talk-story sessions, special get-togethers, the David Malo Day ho’olaule’a and a golf tournament Saturday morning at Kaanapali Golf Resort.
Registration for the reunion is underway, and the deadline to sign up is Feb. 15. Registration forms are available online at www.lahainalunaboarders.com. Contact Richard “Noosh” Nishihara at (808) 870-6478 to sign up for the golf tournament.
Daniel Aikala of the LHS Class of 1953 is serving as chairman of the 175th Anniversary Reunion. For information, contact him at (808) 671-0866 or keikis5@hawaii.rr.com, or call Craig Murakami (Boarders Association Maui Chapter president) at 870-5217, Ray Shimabuku at 283-5041, Floyd Miyazono at 357-1214, Keola Rogat at 264-3726 or Bob Kawaguchi at 661-0110.
“The Lahainaluna Boarders Association invites you to join them in Lahaina to share in the celebration. Everyone is welcome — former boarders, spouses and friends are encouraged to participate in this special gathering,” the group reported.
“Hope to see you all in Lahaina!”
