Lahaina Yacht Club expanding its outreach

By Staff | May 28, 2009

Congratulations to Lahaina Yacht Club and its ladies auxiliary, The Boomvangers, for reaching out to help Na Hale O Wainee Resource Center.

The center helps individuals and families get back on their feet, learn life and job seeking skills, and ultimately transition from being homeless to stable and self-sufficient.

“The facility enables the adults of this community to bring fulfillment to their lives and expectation as they seek their future endeavors,” noted Adell Sievers of the Boomvangers.

At Na Hale O Wainee, volunteers in the community are building a facility to serve as a day care center.

Lahaina Yacht Club is supporting this effort, and members donated a jumper/climber toy for the children there.

LYC has always helped young people in the community through scholarships and programs out on the ocean.

The Boomvangers are now reaching out to people in need.

Sievers explained that the Boomvangers are “excited to be a part of helping and extending an outreach to the community.

“As we vision, the participation per the Lahaina Yacht Club, which extends to the community, will continue to offer services to those who are willing to expand themselves and grow within.”

Lahaina Yacht Club members were inspired to help the keiki of Na Hale O Wainee Resource Center after bringing Christmas gifts there last year.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for learning, as each new day brings the little ones to adventure and beginnings,” she commented.

“The keiki are enjoying the climber and look to Santa’s visit in December.”
