Here’s a better way to access your favorite websites
I always get confused when I want to save a favorite web link. Let’s say I’m looking for malasadas on Maui. Once I find the website that shows all kinds of sugar malasadas, I can create a tab, put it in my Favorites or bookmark it.
Well, I have a better way of doing it, and you’re gonna love it.
First of all, before I open up Safari for my malasada search, I’m going to click on File at the top left of the desktop, choose “New Folder,” click on the name and rename it “Favorite websites.” Great — now that you have a new folder on the desktop, open up Safari, and in the search box type in “Malasadas on Maui.” Once you open up the page and slobber all over your keyboard, be sure you quickly wipe it up!
At the top of Safari is the address bar that the malasada website is typed in; click in the middle of the sentence and drag it off the Safari page onto your desktop. Okay, now drag the website onto the top of your new folder you named “Favorite websites.”
That’s it. Instead of opening up Safari and clicking on Favorites or Bookmarks, all you have to do is left-click on your new folder and choose the website. It’s much faster and involves less mouse clicking.
Libreoffice is a free app that you can download onto your Mac. It’s very similar to Microsoft Word, which can cost you $99 and up to $300 for the complete suite.
I actually like Pages, which can convert any file format between the Mac and Windows.
Now that iOS 15 is out, Apple is now saving you PODCAST storage space on the iPhone. You can now specify how many episodes of each show you want to keep on your iPhone at any one time. As part of the update, older episodes will get automatically deleted from your iPhone.
Apple Pay Cash is similar to PayPal and Venmo for sending and receiving money. It’s used in the Wallet App, and Apple has added buttons labeled “Request and Send to recipient,” and from there you can enter an amount. I may start using it, as PayPal takes a portion of the money you receive.
