Have some fun with Spoken Content

By BY GEORGE GORDON/Computer Guru - | Mar 25, 2022

Folks, I have a mind-blower that everyone can use and enjoy. It’s called Spoken Content. So, let’s set it up on your Mac and get ready to kick back for some fun.

First, let’s open up System Preferences, go to Accessibility, then click on Spoken Content. Look for Speak Selection and click on it. Next to it is Options, so click on it and choose the up and down arrows next to Highlight Content. Choose Sentences.. that’s it. You’re all set.

To activate this feature, you have to press on the OPTION + ESC keys.

Ready to freak out? Open up one of your e-mails. Click your mouse at the beginning of the first sentence, then click on OPTION + ESC and sit back. Double wow — everything is being read.

Try opening up a news article, click your mouse at the beginning of the sentence and again click on OPTION + ESC. It reads it all for you!

Let’s say you’re finishing your school assignment on the effect of nuclear cell “quasmentry” at high-end levels of nitrogen, and you want it read out loud to see if you made any mistakes. Now you can!

Everyone uses the Finder App on their Mac laptops to locate files. Did you know that on the iPhones, there’s also a Folders App where you can find the same folders that are on your Mac and be able to look at them and even edit the file or view photos.

So, big deal… well, let’s say you’re at a meeting and you don’t have your MacBook Pro with you, but you have your iPhone and need to look up a document that’s on your Mac. No problem — open up your iPhone, click on the Files App, then navigate to the location of that file. Click on it and it opens up, so now you don’t need to bring your Mac computer along.

If you tap and hold on a file, and choose Quick Look, it won’t open up the file, but it lets you see what’s in it. You can view photos, videos and music, and be able to zoom in on anything. You can also edit a file, and with a photo, you can choose the Mark Up tool to add text or draw on it.
