Need to share your location?
If I need to send someone my home address, if they have an iPhone, it’s quite simple. If you have them in your contacts, then open up your iPhone, click on the Message App and choose their name at the top, which opens up their information page. Just tap “Share My Location,” which gives you three options to choose.
Another way to share your location with someone is to open up the Find My App, select the “People” tab then tap the Plus button. Choose a person, then tap “Share My Location,” then “Send.” Select one of three options.
Okay, now give your fingers a rest and get ready for the best way to do it.
I set up a way where all I have to do is press ## and instantly my address will automatically appear in any app like Notes, E-mail, Messages or even using my iMac in Pages. Want to know how I did it ? Okay, let’s get started.
On your iPhone, open up Settings, General, Keyboards, Text Replacements. Now tap the + sign at the top right and a window opens up with “Phrase and Shortcut. In the Phrase box, type in your address, like “MY ADDRESS IS 17 PUA STREET, LAHAINA, HI 96761,” and in the Shortcut space type in ##, then hit Save.
Okay, let’s try it out. Open up Messenger and choose one of your contacts. Type out something like: “Hey Joe, ##,” and press the space bar. Automatically you will see “Hey Joe, my address is 17 Pua Street, Lahaina, HI 96761.”
Wasn’t that cool? I decided to add a few other shortcuts, since I hate typing. I went back into the text replacement section and set up another one. I choose the ^^ sign for my phone number and !! for my e-mail address. When I had to type in my e-mail address, I just typed in !!, then pressed the space bar.
Actually, you can type in any letter or symbol you created in the shortcut for any word, words, phrases or long sentences.
Now get ready for the best one yet! Open up the Maps App on your iPhone. You should see a map with a blue dot on it. Tap on it and click on Share. Then choose either Mail, Messages or even Facebook.
Now here is the easiest way yet — without setting up anything at all. In the Message App, just type in “I’m at” and hit the space bar. Underneath is Current Location.
A map shows up — just hit the blue up arrow, and that’s it. So go ahead and make some more friends and show them where you live!
