Community support key to Sentry Tournament of Champions

By Staff | Dec 20, 2018

Dustin Johnson, winner of the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions, greets fans watching the event at The Plantation Course.

KAPALUA – We are just a few weeks away from the start of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, and the excitement is starting to ratchet up. The team is hard at work to make sure The Plantation Course is ready to host the best PGA Tour players in the world the first week of January.

It’s an amazing task to stage a world-class sporting event on a little corner of Maui, but it’s all worth it to see the support from the fans and the entire Maui community.

We hope this tournament is an event that everyone on Maui can be proud to call their own – an event that celebrates the Maui No Ka ‘Oi spirit and what makes this the most special setting for any PGA Tour event.

As we work to engage every corner of Maui, we are excited to work with Lahaina this year on a Community Kick-off Event in Campbell Park on Sunday, Dec. 30, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Featuring fun, introductory golf games, Instagram opportunities and some tournament giveaways, this event is our way of saying aloha to the Lahaina community and welcome everyone to our favorite week of the year.

We are excited to work with Lahaina Junior Golf and Kapalua Golf on this event that will celebrate the family-friendly atmosphere of the tournament.

Lahaina Junior Golf is one of the many non-profits partnered with the tournament and will be selling tickets to the Sentry Tournament of Champions at the Lahaina event, all proceeds of which will go directly to Lahaina Junior Golf.

We hope you join us in Lahaina on Dec. 30, and at The Plantation Course Jan. 2-6, to celebrate this showcase of the Maui community.
