Thanks for supporting West Maui Lions

Children received gifts at the 15th annual Keiki Block Party on Dec. 19.
West Maui Lions would like to thank members in the community for supporting the car wash at First Hawaiian Bank. Proceeds went toward the purchase of seven 26-inch bikes to children for Christmas gifts. Pastor Cecilia Hoopai from Harvest Chapel works hard each year to make sure the event is a success.
The 15th annual Keiki Block Party was held at the Wailuku Community Center on Dec. 19. There were approximately 300 children with their families, who received a good healthy meal and gifts.
There were other Lions Clubs that participated; Haleakala Lions, Airport Lions, Maui Lions and Kihei/Wailea Lions also donated gifts. Other organizations and bikers — Scion Session, Hawaii Nomads, Sons of Hawaii, Royal Hawaiian, Zeke Kalua and Carol Pluta, Amy Matsumoto, Paul, Dallas and others contributed.
We were touched as a 12-year-old girl cried after receiving her very first bike. There were also many other bikers and sponsors who dropped off gifts and monetary donations.
Special music and live entertainment was presented by Da Barefoot Warrior, Ernest Pua’a, and other special guests. Special thanks to all of you and surrounding clubs, businesses and organizations that supported the event. For information on becoming a lion, contact Linda Elms at 276-1191.
