Edison Juel and his family were welcomed during Wednesday’s County of Maui community meeting at Lahaina Civic Center. In the wake of the August 2023 fires, the 5-year-old Seattle boy raised $20,000 for Lahaina fire survivors with his “Lemonade for Lahaina” stand.

Lahaina keiki authors and their new book were another highlight of the county’s Weekly Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting.

Also, the meeting had an introduction to the long-term recovery plan process by the county’s Jen Mayden (third photo) and Kate Blystone (fourth photo) of the Community Planning section in the Office of Recovery.

The county Department of Environmental Management Director Shayne Agawa provided updates on the temporary debris disposal site at Olowalu.
