Local officials raise awareness about Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Mayor Richard Bissen and county Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Martin, alongside the Maui Sexual Assault Center and other service providers and victim advocates, came together in Wailuku on Tuesday to raise awareness about Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Mayor Bissen presented a proclamation at the Kalana O Maui building and extended a heartfelt mahalo to local service providers and victim advocates for their dedication.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is a time for advocates, survivors, loved ones and community members to come together to talk about sexual violence and to support survivors, increase knowledge and awareness and identify strategies and resources to prevent sexual violence, according to the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act.
