At 1:51 a.m. on Thursday, fire crews were dispatched to the report of a structure fire on Kekona Place in Makawao.

Units arrived to find the single-family home nearly fully involved with fire. Crews extended hose lines to extinguish the fire and protect neighboring residences while ensuring that all the occupants had successfully evacuated.

The fire was brought under control at 2:05am and fully extinguished by 4:35 a.m.. The cause of the fire was undetermined. Four people were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

The structure was valued at $166,000. Three vehicles at the residence also sustained damage, the value of which is unknown. The estimated value of the contents of the home is unknown at this time. Slight damage was done to a neighboring residence.

Engine 5 (Makawao), Engine 13 (Kula), Rescue 10 and Tanker 10 (Kahului), a Battalion Chief and a Fire Investigator all responded to this incident.
