County community informational meetings to be broadcast live

WAILUKU — Mayor Richard Bissen has announced two important community informational meetings aimed at providing essential updates and support to those affected by the Lahaina and Kula fires.

These meetings will address critical topics such as housing plans, air quality status, support programs, and the establishment of the County of Maui Office of Recovery.

The meetings are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 22, at 5 p.m. at Lahaina Civic Center and Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.

The public is invited to attend in person or watch live broadcasts on the County of Maui’s Facebook and Instagram pages or on Akaku Maui Community Media Channel 53.

These community informational meetings have been organized to ensure that residents impacted by the wildfire disaster have access to accurate and timely information. Topics to be covered include:

– Housing Plans: Updates on housing arrangements and options for those affected.

– Air Quality Status: Information on current air quality conditions and any associated health precautions.

– Support Programs: Details about available support programs, including financial assistance and counseling services.

– County of Maui Office of Recovery: Insights into the establishment and purpose of the Office of Recovery, which will coordinate efforts across various county departments, state and federal agencies and non-government organizations.
