Hotline launched for DOE families, staff

By Staff | Aug 23, 2023

The state Department of Transportation launched a support hotline Monday for families and staff of the four Lahaina public schools impacted by the wildfires.

Lahainaluna High School, Lahaina Intermediate School and Princess Nahi’ena’ena Elementary sustained wind damage but remained in overall good condition, according to the DOE, though Kamehameha III Elementary School in Lahaina town was destroyed in the fire.

While the campuses are closed and school phone lines are down, families and staff who are facing internet challenges and who need assistance can call (808) 727-6880, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A DOE representative will help guide those in need with information and next steps relating to schools, enrollment and other resources, according to a DOE news release Monday.
