Historic Lahaina church invites public for live music, hula, pupus and tour

Singer Wilmont Kahaialii will entertain at Holy Innocents’ event for the public on Friday.
LAHAINA — One of Maui’s most popular entertainers, singer Wilmont Kahaialii, will be performing with hula by Kalei Jaramillo from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at a free public event at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church on Front Street on Friday, Dec. 16 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
The event kicks-off Holy Innocents’ Capital Campaign to raise $350,000 for needed repairs and restorations.
“With this event, we’re hoping to share the extraordinary beauty of the church and its close connection with Hawaiian history and culture. We also hope to raise awareness about the maintenance needed to preserve the building, preschool and campus. Holy Innocents’ needs include replacing a damaged roof and an original sewage line plus repaving the parking lot and other less costly upgrades,” said Campaign Chair and Parishioner Jacob Marsh.
In addition to experiencing great entertainment, the public will be invited to take a short guided tour of the property that is a part of Lahaina’s Historic District.
Though donations are not expected at the event, there will be a donation table available.
“With this short event, we want to give back to the community and let people know that we remain here to support Lahaina and West Maui, just as we have since our first services in 1862,” said the Reverend Bruce DeGooyer, vicar.
All are welcome to come and enjoy the pupus and music on a Lahaina winter’s eve. Learn more at www.holyimaui.org.
