Shown making a tackle, Lahainaluna High School senior Keawe Kane Keahi was recently selected to participate in the 2023 Dream All-American Bowl on Dec. 30, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The event spotlights the nation’s top football prospects.

LAHAINA — Lahainaluna High School senior Keawe Kane Keahi, a 6’2″, 200- pound defensive lineman, was recently nominated and accepted into the 2023 Dream All-American Bowl that takes place on Dec. 30, 2022, at SoFi Stadium, the home field for the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers.

After a rigorous review from the committee, the top 300 student-athletes were invited to play in the exclusive all-star contest and participate in a week-long event of developmental activities and performance on a nationwide platform.

Dream All American Bowl showcases the nation’s best senior and underclassmen athletes.

Their participation allows them to learn from some of the best teachers of the game — former NFL players and current college coaches.

Committee leader and CEO of Dream Sports Group, Shannon Riley, said, “The athletes that were selected have exemplified great leadership skills on and off the field, and have stood out as leading performers in each position. We believe that these are the next stars of the game, and we want to recognize them for their outstanding achievements and help them get to the next level.”

Lahainaluna Co-head Coach Dean Rickard concurred, adding: “Although considered undersized by weight standards, Keawe’s wrestling background (Maui Interscholastic League 182-pound champ and state runner-up) definitely allows him an advantage in the trenches at his defensive end position.”

“Keawe always had the physical toughness and relentless play, but it’s his speed off the edges and his quickness, arm length and ability to separate and evade blockers that makes him an integral part of our defense,” he continued.

“He has proven that his presence on the gridiron, especially on defense, draws attention, and that opposing teams must account for him when preparing a game plan. Keawe plans to play at the collegiate level, and he is certainly capable of doing so. But for this season, we certainly expect big things from him,” Coach Rickard concluded.

Kane Keahi holds a 3.0 grade point average and would like to attend college in the Pacific Northwest.

He and his family express their gratitude to the football and wrestling coaches, and the entire West Side community, for their support and guidance to reach this point in his life.
