College fair slated in West Maui

Maui Preparatory Academy Upper School Administrator and College Counselor Keenan Reader said the Napili independent campus is excited to host the West Maui College Fair in their new gymnasium and activities building, the Bozich Center.
NAPILI — The Hawaii Association of College Admissions Counselors (HACAC) is hosting two college fairs for Maui County students and their families on Oct. 19. These events are open to the public.
Maui Preparatory Academy will host a fair in the morning, generally for West Maui, Molokai and Lanai students, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Kamehameha Schools Maui will host a fair that evening from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
There will be approximately 80 colleges and universities represented at the events.
The fairs are free and open to the public, but students and families need to register in advance at www.strivefair.com.
This is the first time the college fair will be held in West Maui and the first fall college event on the island since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
The HACAC was able to allocate funding to transport students from Lanai, Molokai and Maui public schools to the West Side fair. The HACAC’s mission is to increase college access to Hawaii’s youth through college fairs and community workshops.
Attending a college fair is a great opportunity for students to learn about specific colleges and to initiate relationships with admissions counselors who will review their applications.
According to Maui Prep Upper School Administrator and College Counselor Keenan Reader, the Napili independent campus is excited to host the West Maui College Fair in their new gymnasium and activities building, the Bozich Center.
Located at the entrance to the campus at the Napili foothills, the Bozich Center was built with the intention of being a community events location.
“With the support of the Hawaii Association of College Admissions Counselors, Maui Prep is excited to open our campus facility, the Bozich Center, in support of all West Side and Maui families in learning about college futures,” said Reader last week.
“Families can go to http.//go.hawaiiacac.org/college-fairs for a list of colleges in attendance and for more information.”
