Jeremy Jacobs serves as national communications director of ShelterBox USA.

LAHAINA — Two special meetings will be hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Maui to hear a dynamic presentation by the national communications director of ShelterBox USA.

On Monday, June 27, the meeting will be held at the Seascape Restaurant located adjacent to Maui Ocean Center in Maalaea. On Tuesday, June 28, the meeting will be held at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kaanapali. The meeting time is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend. There is no fee to attend the meeting, and participants are asked to order food and/or beverages from the restaurant menus. Separate checks will be available.

Jeremy Jacobs will be sharing information about ShelterBox USA. Jacobs is the communications director, and he works to tell ShelterBox’s story in the media, online and in other venues like podcasts.

He will provide an update from the organization on its current responses — including three programs inside and outside Ukraine — as well as other notable developments, such as the ongoing development of a new five-year plan and its goals to improve and expand the amount of aid ShelterBox provides every year.

He is also currently training for deployment for ShelterBox, and he welcomes any questions participants might have about the organization.

Prior to joining ShelterBox, Jacobs was an award-winning journalist and photographer for nearly 16 years. He mainly covered environmental issues and climate change, including natural disasters. He’s appeared as an expert guest on NPR, CSPAN, a variety of podcasts and TV and radio programs. Before that, he covered politics for National Journal, The Hill Newspaper, and the New York Observer.

He also successfully co-led a large campaign last year that called on Stanford University to reinstate 11 sports slated to be cut, including men’s volleyball, which he played.

He has an Honors Degree from Stanford, a Master’s Degree from Columbia Journalism School and has participated in several fellowships.

Jacobs is a native Texan, and outside of work he is the husband of an amazing tax lawyer, Caitlyn, and the father of two fantastic kiddos: Connor (eight) and Maisie (five). He enjoys pretty much anything outdoors: surfing, biking, skiing, hiking and camping.

Interested attendees to the Monday meeting are asked to RSVP to Wendy Hornack at wlhmaui@gmail.com.

Interested attendees to the Tuesday meeting may RSVP to Joanne Laird at mamalrd01@gmail.com.

Please register by Saturday, June 25.
