Congratulations to the Maui Preparatory Academy Class of 2022!

NAPILI — The Maui Preparatory Academy Class of 2022 will hold its commencement ceremony on the Lower School Quad on Friday, May 27, at 6 p.m.

Each Maui Prep senior must fulfill state Department of Education graduation requirements in addition to completing volunteer hours, a senior project internship and presentation.

The Valedictorian is Aiden Bluh, the son of Corie and the late Robert Bluh, who will attend University of Michigan.

The Salutatorian is Grace Martin, the daughter of Dan Martin and Amy Wisthoff-Martin, who will attend Brown University.

The other graduating seniors and their chosen universities are: Levi Basurto, Willamette University; Koenig Biegel, Colorado State University; Bennett Bluh, University of Miami; Caleb Chumley, University of Notre Dame; Shelby Dresser, New York Fashion Institute of Technology; Dylan Falk, University of California, Santa Barbara; Jimmy Falk, University of California, Santa Barbara; Zoe Gonzales, University of California, Santa Barbara; Angelina Graham; Madeline Homes, Colorado State University; Sadie Homes, University of Nevada, Reno; Jacob Jerome, University of Hawaii Maui College; Jenna Jordan, University of Hawaii at Manoa; Namahina Kawabata, Pacific University; Noah Schwartzlow, Gonzaga University; Drew Triplett, Pepperdine University; Hailey Walpole, University of Hawaii at Manoa; Caden Wheeler, Menlo College; and Melyssa Willi, Pepperdine University.

Senior advisors are educators Gabby Lindblad and Keenan Reader.

We asked Reader what he will remember about the class.

“The Class of 2022 is a hardworking, fun and spirited crew! They were highly engaged in their school and West Side community through athletics, activities and community service. They are an intellectually curious class who know how to go for it in life,” he explained.

Citing some of their achievements, Reader noted that every senior got into their first or second choice college.

Six seniors were members of the state championship basketball team, and one was a member of the state champion golf team.

The class completed over 700 hours of community service.

“The school’s first-ever state championships are likely the most memorable, but for me, I’ll remember the time spent on the senior trip to Kauai. Although they weren’t the best cooks, we had a great time snorkeling and hiking the Napali Coast, exploring on ATVs and hanging out at Hanalei Bay,” he wrote.
