Theatre Theatre Maui announces plans for summer camps

By Staff | Apr 29, 2022

Kristi Scott of Great Scott Productions is ready for more camp action during Theatre Theatre Maui's summer programs and will bring her amazing creative team back as well.

LAHAINA — In partnership with Great Scott Productions, Theatre Theatre Maui (TTM) has announced there will be two performing arts camps running this summer.

All camps will be held at Maui Preparatory Academy in Napili.

“We will again offer two-week camps for keiki 5-9 years besides running our annual six-week camp for those entering fourth to 12th grade next school year,” noted Annabehl Sinclair-Delaney, TTM’s board president.

“The two-week camp format was offered by TTM for the first time last summer for the younger keiki and was extremely popular. We expose them to basic theatrical skills, and they perform a short play at the end of each camp,” she continued.

“Families can choose to sign up for one, two or three camps, since each will involve a different play. For our older thespians, they develop skills in acting, singing and dance and are involved in all aspects of putting on a production in which each of them take part in. Our musical theatre selection is Roald Dahl’s ‘MATILDA, Jr.,’ and we are excited about presenting that during the final week, between July 21-24. Best of all, we are totally looking forward to a return to live, in-person performances,” concluded Sinclair-Delaney.

Kristi Scott (a.k.a “the Drama Queen”) of Great Scott Productions returns as Camp Director. Joining her again are Kathleen Schulz as Kamp Krazy Tales Instructor, and the rest of the creative team running the Matilda Camp are Frances Taua, assistant director; Felicia Chernicki-Wulf, choreographer; and Aida Rose, musical director.

All camps will run from Monday, June 13, through Friday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., except on Monday, July 4, in observation of Independence Day.

Each of the two-week camps are $175, discounted to $475 for all three camps. For the advanced summer camp, tuition is $475.

TTM continues to provide a sibling discount when registering two or more students from the same family. Need-based scholarships are available for families requesting assistance, thanks to the generosity of TTM’s donors. Instructions are provided within the registration materials.
