Theatre Theatre Maui announces spring break camps and workshops

By Staff | Mar 4, 2022

Ms. Kathleen and Mr. Francis are ready to welcome back Theatre Theatre Maui campers and workshop participants during the spring break between March 14-18. All classes will be held within a unit at Lahaina Cannery Mall.

LAHAINA — In partnership with Great Scott Productions, Theatre Theatre Maui (TTM) has announced plans to have performing arts camps and workshops running during the upcoming spring break.

Between March 14-18, there will be two week-long camps with a morning session for ages 5-9 running 9 a.m. to noon followed by an afternoon session for ages 8-12 running from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Both camps will have Kathleen Schulz and Francis Taua teaming together as returning instructors.

Schulz leads the morning camp “Steps to Story” in dance in movement, and Taua leads the afternoon camp “Stories on Stage” with games, story-telling and creating skits.

Each camp is $150, and there is a sibling discount of $25 when registering two or more students from the same family.

There are also three workshops offered from 3:30 to 6 p.m. for students 12 and up, all led by Taua.

Tuesday, March 15, and Thursday, March 17, are Comedy I and II, and Wednesday is Character Development. Each workshop is $35 or sign up for all three for $90 (no sibling discount).

To register, and for more information about any of these offerings, go to TTMWestMaui.org and select the register tab for Spring Break (https://www.TTMWestMaui.org/spring-break-camp-2021/).

Scholarships are available to families in need, thanks to the generosity of TTM’s donors. Instructions are provided within the registration material.

All camps and workshops will be held in a unit at Lahaina Cannery Mall.

“We are indeed fortunate to again receive the generous support of the Lahaina Cannery Mall’s management team by being provided space to hold such programs,” noted Annabehl Sinclair-Delaney, TTM’s board president.

“We held a one-week fall camp and a two-week winter break camp at the mall and enjoyed participating as one of the non-profits during their holiday season ‘Festival of Trees’ decorating contest. We applaud their community-related support.”

Theatre Theatre Maui was founded and headquartered in Lahaina 30 years ago and is currently working on plans for its annual summer camp. Plans are also underway for a series of afterschool dramatic arts classes.

For more information, and to provide support of these efforts to provide hands-on theatre experiences right here in West Maui, follow TTM on Instagram and Facebook, and e-mail admin@TTMWestMaui.org to be added to their e-newsletters.
