LAHAINA — The Baldwin Home Museum and the Wo Hing Museum and Cookhouse expanded their public tour hours on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. Both museums will now be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. six days a week.

The Wo Hing Museum will be open from Wednesday through Monday, while the Baldwin Home will be open from Tuesday through Sunday during the day and for Candlelit Tours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday nights.

The seventh day each week will be dedicated to caring for the collections at each museum and for special programming, such as Lahaina Quest keiki/family programs and Hands-on History volunteer programs.

Tours are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, military, veterans, and Hawaii residents, and free for children 12 and under and Lahaina Restoration Foundation members.

To purchase tickets online or for more information about the museums, visit www.lahainarestoration.org.

All state and county guidelines regarding COVID-19 protocols will be followed. Appropriately worn masks are required inside of the museums.

In related news, beginning on March 12 and continuing every second Saturday of the month, free family movies will be presented outdoors at Campbell Park in Lahaina at 6:30 p.m.

The event is made possible through the sponsorship of the Mark and Debi Rolfing Charitable Foundation on behalf of BJ Petrus.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise and Lahaina Restoration Foundation are coordinating the event.

Campbell Park was built and dedicated to the children of Lahaina by Abigail Maipinepine Campbell in 1877 as a memorial to her husband, James Campbell, a founding partner of Pioneer Mill.

When the park was built, Lahaina was a dusty mill town and the play area for children was very appreciated.

A basketball court was built at the park in the 1950s, but it fell into disrepair and was demolished in the 1980s.

With funds from the James and Abigail Campbell Foundation, Lahaina Restoration Foundation re-landscaped the park in the early 1990s to be the green oasis it is today.

Lahaina Restoration Foundation continues to maintain the landscaping at no charge as a benefit to the town.

The schedule of free movies for the next six months is as follows: March 12: “Moana;” April 9: “Lilo & Stich;” May 14: “Finding Nemo;” June 11: “Soul Surfer;” July 9: “The Little Mermaid;” Aug. 13: “Surf’s Up.”

On Saturday, March 12, the event will begin at 6:30 p.m., with later start times scheduled as summer begins.

Seating will be on the grass. Attendees are encouraged to bring mats, blankets or low beach chairs. No other seating will be provided.

Snacks and drinks can be brought from home or purchased at nearby eateries. There will be no food or drink sales in the park.

Portable restrooms will be provided, and pets are not allowed.

This is an alcohol-, drug- and tobacco-free event. For more information, contact events@lahainarestoration.org.
