By Staff | Oct 15, 2020

WEST MAUI — Three representatives of the West Maui Community Plan Advisory Committee will make a presentation to the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

The guest speakers will be Kai Nishiki, Leilani Pulmano and Karen Comcowich.

She is an advocate for beach access, coastal restoration and tourism management across Maui County.

Pulmano has lived in Lahaina for over 20 years and works at Pacific Rim Land.

A 2009 graduate of the Ka Ipu Kukui Fellowship Program, Pulmano is on the board of the Hawaii Housing Public Authority and served on the board for the Hawaii Housing Finance Development Corporation from 2012 to 2020.

Comcowich is dedicated to preserving a sustainable and diverse Maui.

During her 15 years in Lahaina, she has worked in a variety of positions in the hospitality industry, from barista to management, giving her intimate knowledge of the challenges West Maui workers face, including access to comfortable affordable housing and time to enjoy our beautiful home.

She enjoys being involved with Kula Kaiapuni O Maui Ma Nahi’ena’ena, volunteering for beach cleanups and lo’i restoration, and talking to conservationists about how to maintain a sustainable Maui.
