Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset fulfills Computers for Kids Project

By Staff | Oct 2, 2020

LAHAINA — In collaboration with Princess Nahienaena Elementary School, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset last week announced the completion of the Computers for Kids Project.

Over 70 donated and refurbished computers were delivered to the school for families who do not have devices in their homes. These devices are for the families to keep.

The club wishes to offer their most sincere mahalo to George Gordon, the “Computer Guru” who wiped clean, sanitized and updated these devices so that they could be delivered to these families.

He donated his time and talents, and all he requested was funding to purchase necessary components to make the devices workable.

According to project Chairperson Katie Zimmerman, “We are so appreciative for the generosity of the numerous Maui community members who donated these devices for this unique project. We are also very thankful to Moku Roots Restaurant for being the drop-off location for the donated devices.”

At this point in time, no further devices need to be donated.

According to Principal Dr. Rebecca Winkie, Princess Nahienaena Elementary School would appreciate donations of funds to be able to keep all of these devices — and other devices that students are using for distance learning — in working order.

Donations of funds to support this project are tax-deductible, and a mahalo letter will be sent to recognize contributions. Donations can be made via Paypal or Venmo by going to the club’s website at www.rotarycluboflahainasunset.org.
