LAHAINA – On Saturday, Aug. 8, and Sunday, Aug. 9, two of the West Maui Rotary Clubs held very successful drives to collect school supplies for children in need.

Over 100 pounds of school supplies and $1,200 in funds were collected during the two days of the effort.

On Aug. 8, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset held a project for the children of Hana School.

On Aug. 9, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise held the collection drive for the students of King Kamehameha III Elementary School.

Collected supplies and funds will be delivered to both schools this month.

Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise members Sen. Roz Baker and President Skeeter Stebbins collect school supplies and funds for King Kamehameha III School on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Both clubs would like to offer their sincere thanks to Lahaina Cannery Mall and Gilbert & Associates for allowing the clubs to set up their collection tables and tents on the parking lot in front of Longs Drugs.

Without such support from these agencies, the drives would not have been able to take place.

This school supplies drive is one of the many community service projects sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Lahaina Sunrise and Lahaina Sunset.

Rotary is a leadership organization made up of local business, professional and civic leaders.
