Lahainaluna High School Foundation distributes $129,000 in scholarships

LAHAINA – The Lahainaluna High School Foundation announced that due to the generosity of its donors, the foundation was able to distribute 71 scholarship awards (including renewals) totaling $129,000 to graduating seniors this year. LHSF’s total distribution since 2006 is now $1,745.000!

The recipients include Makena Cowan for the inaugural $1,000 Class of 2020 Scholarship. Inaugural $500 Kula Kaiapuni ‘o Lahainaluna Scholarships were awarded to Enoka O La’i Alohikea O Kalani Chandler Phillips, Nainoa Kulukulalani-Sales, Kaiwi (Bonez) Naniloa Maika’i Westbrooks, Kaliakeanukoakilakilaoka’imiloa Chance Kahahane-McCabe and Josephine Leihuanani Fraser.

Scholarships for $500 were awarded to Jeremiah McCall from Mark & Judy Ellman, Brian Sandoval from the Bonnie Ann Fijal Memorial, Josh Tihada from Rob & Holly Manning-Homes & Land Magazine and Maui Magazine, Shanel Mangaoang from Ilocandia Filipino Store, Hailey Bogar from Lahaina Fish Co., Alana Koa from Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club, Ajanette Aveno from RVN Restaurant, and Nikolas Kron from Valley Isle Community Federal Credit Union.

Scholarships for $1,000 include: Eddymar Cabading (5A Rent-A-Space); Hailey Bogar (Maureen Setsuko Ariyoshi Memorial); Kailee Badua (Luly Baker Award); Halohna Gaoiran (Bank of Hawaii-Lahaina Branch); Kapua Nakoa (Boss Frog’s Dive & Surf); Makena Cowan (Central Pacific Bank-Lahaina Branch); Kailee Badua (Ebrahim Gabbay, M.D., Memorial); Jose Garciazo and Kalewa Kalinikau (Blackie Gadarian Vocational); Eddymar Cabading (Kaanapali Land Management Corp.); Matt Domingo (Sammy Kadotani Service Award); David Advincula (Brian Kelly Memorial-Endowed); Alana Koa (Andrew Kutsunai Future Teacher Award); Izaiah Stephens (Sgt. Other scholarships include Shanel Mangaoang ($1,500 Roy & Betty Sakamoto, renewable); Ajanette Aveno ($1,500 H&K Takenaga Legacy); Leilani Esperanza ($2,000 Kihachiro J. Hotta Memorial Endowed); David Advincula ($2,500 Steven R. Strong, M.D. Memorial); Rory Delaney ($5,000 Makana Aloha Foundation, renewable); and Challys Pascual ($12,000 Shigeru & Toyoko Ichiki Endowed, renewable).
