Over 500 bags of food distributed to West Maui residents
LAHAINA – Over 500 bags of food were distributed on April 16 to individuals impacted by COVID-19 in West Maui.
The distribution was a joint effort with VIP Foodservice, Mahi Pono, Don Ito, Maui Chemical, Matson, Aloha Waste Systems Inc., Maui Lani Golf Course, Miyake Concrete, the state Department of Transportation and the County of Maui.
“Mahalo to all the county employees and other groups and organizations for coming together to make this food distribution possible,” Mayor Michael Victorino said. “I would also like to thank the Maui Police Department, Department of Public Works and Department of Parks and Recreation for helping to ensure a smooth and successful event in West Maui.”
“A special mahalo also goes out to all the local businesses that have stepped up to assist the community by donating food and services.”
Over 2,000 bags of food have been distributed to communities across Maui County over the last month.
