Drive-through testing for COVID-19 slated in West Maui on Wednesday, April 15
The County of Maui announced that drive-through testing for COVID-19 will take place in West Maui on Wednesday, April 15, along Honoapiilani Highway, beginning near Launiupoko Beach Park.
Testing will be open to first responders and healthcare workers ONLY from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. They are asked to access the testing site using Kai Hele Ku Street.
Testing for the general public will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will have a separate access point to the drive-through.
Testing will be provided at no-cost through a partnership with Dr. Scott Miscovich of Premier Medical Group and the County of Maui.
“We want to mahalo Dr. Miscovich and his team again for providing these test kits for the West Maui community,” Mayor Michael Victorino said. “Providing testing in West Maui to first responders, healthcare workers and the general public is hugely valuable in our fight against COVID-19.”
General public access to the testing site will be on Honoapiilani Highway eastbound fronting Launiupoko Beach Park. The portion of the highway between Kai Hele Ku Street and the Lahaina Bypass connection will be closed to traffic in both directions.
Traffic impacts are expected between Puamana Beach Park and Launiupoko Beach Park. Motorists not seeking testing should avoid the area and use the Lahaina Bypass.
Entrance to the testing site will not be allowed from Kai Hele Ku Street.
Vehicles will enter the testing site, drive through testing stations, and exit on Honoapiilani Highway or the Lahaina Bypass via Kai Hele Ku Street.
Individuals will be screened onsite. First responders and healthcare workers should present their work IDs for screening.
All participants are asked to: remain in their vehicles, bring a valid ID, be prepared to fill out informational sheets, and bring an insurance card if possible (however, there will be no charge, co-pays or deductible fees).
