Duke’s Beach House awards staff at Princess Nahi‘ena‘ena Elementary School

KAANAPALI – Duke’s Beach House recently recognized Katie Keenan and Janell Simpliciano of Princess Nahi’ena’ena Elementary School as Educators of the Month for November and December.

Keenan, a Special Education teacher, was awarded for being dedicated to meeting the needs of her kindergarten students.

Keenan is described as being a kind, caring and knowledgeable educator who works exceptionally well with students and colleagues.

Second grade teacher Simpliciano was awarded for her willingness to try new strategies to effectively meet the social, emotional and academic learning needs of her students.

Simpliciano has worked closely with the school garden coordinator to provide outdoor learning opportunities for second-graders and has managed the “Gotcha Store” as part of the schoolwide positive behavior and interventions systems.

“We are so happy to be able to recognize the hard-working staff at Princess Nahi’ena’ena Elementary School and celebrate the great work they do for our keiki,” said Nick Ware, Duke’s Beach House general manager.

“Education is so vital. and we are proud to acknowledge teachers that are going above and beyond for their students.”

Keenan and Simpliciano were presented with an engraved koa box and a $100 gift certificate to Duke’s Beach House as recipients of the award.
