Holy Innocents Episcopal Church to celebrate 12th year of the ‘Paper Bag Pageant!’
LAHAINA – Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Lahaina is celebrating its 12th year of the annual “Paper Bag Pageant!”
This innovative pageant will occur during the 9 a.m. Sunday service on Dec. 8 at the 561 Front St. church.
The church also welcomes Holy Innocents Preschool kids and their families to join in the fun along with the Sacred Hearts School Honors Choir.
“Every visitor and parishioner will have a part to play,” explained Rev. Amy Crowe, vicar of this historic Episcopal Church.
A paper bag will be given out at the door, and all will prepare with their costumes.
At the proper cue by the narrator, every person will join the manger scene assembling before the altar.
It has been a real “chicken-skin” moment each year as everyone gathers together to prepare for this gift to the whole world while the group sings the carols of the Christmas season.
The Christmas pageant service is open to all. It will be followed by birthday cake for Jesus and coffee in the courtyard behind the sanctuary. All are invited to celebrate.
