LAC seeks support for Maui’s largest Fourth of July event
LAHAINA – For over 18 years, LahainaTown Action Committee has organized a town celebration and fireworks display for the Maui community on the Fourth of July.
This year, LAC is looking to raise over $50,000 for the event. Special opportunities and events are planned this year if LAC can break its fundraising goal.
“The Fourth of July is one of Lahaina Town’s major fundraisers, and the funds raised allow us to continue as an organization and help put in additional events and programs throughout the year,” said LAC Board President Sne Patel.
“This event is also a great economic boost to the town, drawing close to 20,000 people who shop, dine and create lasting memories throughout the day.”
On July 4 in Lahaina, there will be stilt walkers, strolling balloon twisters and a real life game show, Brenton Keith’s “Fanatics,” at Campbell Park. Two performances are scheduled.
At Lahaina Public Library’s makai lawn, the Chop Suey Jazz Orchestra will perform at 5 p.m., followed by the Hawaiian trio Kuikawa at 6 p.m. and Maui Community Band at 8 p.m. Sheryl Renee will sing the “Star Spangled Banner” at the start of the fireworks show.
If LAC is able to reach its primary goal of $50,000 early, it will offer additional event sponsorships for the rest of Front Street, including wireless sound for the town, a welcome event at Lahaina Harbor, an LED video wall display – the “Video Monument to FREEDOM” – on Front Street, multiple art installations, and photo opportunities and music at 505 Front Street.?
“There are some very special surprises this year we are waiting to announce,” LAC reported last week.
